Who: Ross
Challenge: Ross graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He decided to take a few years off to gain work experience before applying to Medical School. Since he was applying to several programs, interviewing was part of the acceptance process and needed help on his interviewing skills.
Next Steps: Jim worked with Ross on 4 sessions to help him prepare for his multiple interviews.
We coached Ross on the following:
- Updated/Revised Ross’s resume to better articulate his tenure work experience including his skills and strengths
- Articulate Ross’s strengths and the stories behind each one he could use in an interview
- Reviewed typical Medical School questions and discussed how to answer behavioral based interviewing questions
- After Ross answered the potential interview questions, we reviewed each one in detail
- Help create a Medical Interview template he could prepare on all interviews moving forward
- Practiced interview questions and responses to help Ross differentiate himself from other candidates- It was several years since his last interview
Outcome: Ross was well prepared for each of his interviews and we debriefed after each one to continue to help him improve. Ross recently got accepted to one of his top 2 choices.
